short drabbles
Jul. 31st, 2018 11:36 amokay so dreamwidth seems to be the only website that’s opening properly for my internet right now xD since bingo ends in about twenty mins, I’m just gonna post my last two things here haha
last chance:
Later, people will wonder when everything went to irrevocable shit, when the last chance of reconciliation was.
Maybe it was Bucky. Maybe it was the Accords. Maybe it was Ultron. Maybe it was the moment they met, when Tony couldn’t help the venom that had built up over the years, and it felt better to throw it back at someone other than himself, someone who might even disappoint Tony more than Tony Stark.
That’s bullshit.
Tony thinks of post-mission years ago, when they were friends and blue eyes didn’t haunt Tony’s dreams. Thinks of the kiss that had never gone anywhere (that’s a lie, look where they are now). Thinks of them both pulling back, making excuses for the action (excuses, an old friend).
Never mentioning it again. Tony didn’t want to chance it.
How can he lose something he never let happen?
I’ll sleep when I’m dead:
Steve didn’t sleep much after waking up, because the last time he‘d fallen (asleep) he lost the world. Anyway, he didn’t need much rest, he had the serum and an enemy to fight.
After things settled down (because though the Avengers fight a lot of villains, it’s not exactly on the same level as an alien invasion), he found that he couldn’t fall asleep.
Not until now. Steve looks at Tony who’s feigning sleep with a pout. Tony opens one eye, then smiles when he finds Steve watching him. Steve feels a surge of happy warmth. He didn’t think he’d get this.
“Go to sleep,” Tony murmurs, moving closer to cuddle with Steve. “We have a stupid meeting tomorrow morning.”
Steve grins. “Good night,” he says, and closes his eyes.
He sleeps, and dreams, and no one is dead. He’s still alive.
